Fine Art and Crafts

Welcome to my blog

Here you can add some text to explain what your blog is about and a bit about you.

I set up our artwork in the lobby of Twinsburg Library this morning. We were fortunate enough to have the library contact us host our collection of artwork for the month of February. The lobby alcoves look great, one each for Christine and myself. In addition to the alcoves, there are two glass cases by the book reference area that feature Christine's mini hand cut paper pieces as well as Scrapimals. The art will be up through the end of the month.

Okay, we're both in for Boston Mills this year! All paid up and getting our art ready for the shows. Christine in June and me in July. This is our favorite show. It's a beautiful venue and high quality art. Plus it's a stone's throw from our house.

Additionally Christine has been accepted to Hudson's art show. Between now and Boston Mills you can find her at Chagrin Falls - Art by the Falls in early June as well. I'll be at Lakewood later this summer and am still waiting to hear back from Lakewood.

I have a super big stripe painting I'll be framing soon too; I'll post pictures on the website for you to see. It's an impressive piece. Contact me if you, or someone you know, would be interested. I'd love to get it out of the studio to make some room.

I'm going to work on the website to list out our shows for the year, as well as update the bio's to reflect our latest shows.

Lastly we had a nice visit in Virginia, though the Fairfax show was a little slow for Christine. The quality of art was awesome though. I thinnk the weather kept some people away, especially on Sunday.

Well we're in the thick of art show acceptance (or denial) season. Our dance card is quickly filling up. Christine has been accepted to Art by the Falls in Chagrin Falls, and Boston Mills Artfest in June. Her first show is at the end of April in Fairfax, Virginia - her first out of state show!

I have been accepted to the Lakewood Art Festival and also Boston Mill's July show.

Now the challenge is to get some artwork done as we didn't get nearly enough done over winter with kids running around, and my job loss. And with the weather getting better it will be a challenge because who doesn't want to get outside and work in the garden this time of year.

Stay tuned.

We've been very busy but not necessarily in the studio. Christine's been working on Scrapimal necklaces, minis and other pieces of art; hoping to build up inventory for the coming art show season. I had been doing the same, but I found our recently that my day job was being eliminated so all my time is being consumed with my job search.

We applying to various juried art shows for the upcoming year. Actually adding more since there's a chance I'll be unemployed and selling art may be the only way to put food on the table. Once we have an establish schedule I'll post it up so you can see it.

My studio is a mess. I have several small paintings in progress, but there is a 4' x 6' canvas taking up a lot of space. I really wanted to paint a picture of Trafalgar Square, taken when were there a few years ago. With the stress of joblessness and everything else going on I just wasn't able to put in the time necessary and even then, no saying I would be able to pull it off.

Instead I'm painting my largest stripe painting to date. It's really exciting and I believe I will be able to find a great home for it once it's complete. I'm using my favorite earth tones. I can't wait to finish it.

My loss is your gain this week as I'm adding my latest stripe painting to our store. In a moment of self indulgance I posted the painting on eBay in hopes of selling it but alas I had no takers. I started this painting for a show at the Valley Art Center this winter, but my procrastination got the best of me and I missed the deadline. So this painting is apparently waiting for someone special to buy it. Hopefully it's you.

This canvas painting measures 18" x 24" and is finished with a black floating frame and hanging hardware. So it's ready to hang in your home or give as a super awesome gift to someone special. Take a look at our store for this piece and many others. Thanks.
